Showing up for everyone
The CEO of Massachusetts’ largest nonprofit health insurer is sharing a candid assessment of the stark challenges in health care along with a new mission for 2024.
“The health care system is letting people down, especially when they are most vulnerable and in need of help,” CEO Sarah Iselin writes in a letter published on Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts’ website. “We have huge opportunities to do better.”
Iselin, beginning her second year as president and CEO, helms a health plan with 3 million members in Massachusetts and across the U.S.
“Over the past several months, I’ve been working with our Blue Cross leadership team to take a fresh look at how we can meet these challenges,” she writes. “The result: A refreshed mission and strategy built on the promise that we will always show up for our members when they need us most, and that we will guide them to the exceptional health care they deserve. Health care that’s affordable, equitable and seamless.”
