Where to get a free COVID-19 test in Massachusetts
Whether you have symptoms or not, getting tested is one important way to keep your family and yourself safe
Free COVID-19 tests will continue to be available for free to Bay Staters — including those who are asymptomatic — through June 30.
"Testing is one of the important public health tools, in addition to contact tracing, complying with public health mitigation measures such as face coverings, physical distancing, staying home when sick, and good hygiene, to mitigate the spread of COVID-19," Gov. Charlie Baker said in a statement.
The virus can be spread by those who have no symptoms and are unaware they were exposed. A positive test result provides vital information to allow patients to quarantine and protect vulnerable loved ones and neighbors from infection, and slow the spread of the virus.
As Baker noted, a negative result does not provide protection: Wearing a mask and following physical distancing guidelines are vital to limit the virus' spread as well.

Massachusetts’ Stop the Spread initiative provides free testing at sites across the Commonwealth.
In Boston, mobile free testing sites are available in a range of neighborhoods every day. Testing at the mobile sites is available to anyone, regardless of symptoms and insurance coverage.

Testing is performed by trained clinical teams at community health centers, hospitals, pharmacies and other sites.
Testing ordered by a clinician is covered by health insurance and available at hospitals, pharmacies, doctors’ offices and other sites.
The free sites for asymptomatic residents offer an additional resource for the state’s health care system.
"Testing is free, and widely available, with over 400 testing sites in Massachusetts," Baker said.
